Strawberry Lemonade

Lemonade is the pinnacle example of perfect summertime drinks: tart, lemony fresh, with just a hint of sweetness. How can one perfect an already perfect drink? Answer: add some strawberries.

This strawberry lemonade takes this delightful drink up a notch, giving your favorite summer drink a dash of something extra.

Tips and Tricks

You don’t absolutely have to do strawberries for this recipe. Raspberries would be a terrific alternative. Live the strawberries, you will still need to strain to get rid of the seeds.

Try this recipe with any other fruit that’s calling you.

I highly suggest buying yourself a bottle of lemon juice instead of squeezing a 1/2 cups’ worth of lemon juice. It is much easier on the wrists and hands, and just as flavorful.

This recipe is easily adaptable to how you like your lemonades. If you’re looking for more tartness, add more lemon juice. For more (or less sugar), adjust the amount of sugar syrup you make.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups sliced strawberries, divided

  • 1/2 cup organic cane sugar mixed with 1/2 cup water

  • 1/2 cup lemon juice

  • 5 cups water

  • 1 cup sliced strawberries

  • 1 cup sliced lemons

Directions:

Take a cup’s worth of sliced strawberries. Using either an immersion blender or regular blender, puree the strawberries until they’re almost completely smooth. Set aside.

Place your sugar and water mixture in a small sauce pan and heat over medium heat until boiling. Let boil until the sugar has completely dissolved. Take off the heat and set aside.

In a medium-sized bowl, add your pureed strawberries, the sugar syrup, and the lemon juice. Add the five cups of water.

In the pitcher you’re serving the lemonade from, add the rest of your sliced strawberries and sliced lemons. Place a strainer over the top. Slowly add the mixture from the bowl to your pitcher, getting rid of all the strawberry particles.

Taste test. If anything else is needed (e.g. more lemon juice, more water, etc.) add it, stirring with a wooden spoon. Refrigerate until you’re ready to drink. If serving immediately, add a few ice cubes.

Enjoy!
