Mimosas

Mimosas are a terrific morning treat. They’re simple to make, delicious on any occasion, and can be tailored however you like: alcoholic or non-alcoholic, with orange juice or whatever your favorite juice is, etc.

Ingredients:

  • Sparkling wine or champagne of your choice, chilled

    • If non-alcoholic, use either sparkling water or club soda.

  • Juice or mixer of your choice, chilled

  • Grand Maronier or Chombard (optional)

First thing’s first: you’ll need either a champagne or sparkling wine of your choice. Choose something you’ve tried before and know you’ll enjoy. My personal preference is a dry white.

If you are making these non-alcoholic, you’ll want to find instead a club soda, or sparkling water.

Secondly, pick a favorite juice to go with your mimosa.

Have some fun with this and play around with different flavors and mixtures. We’re fans of pineapple juice for a different take on the drink.

Chill your glasses in the fridge until they’re cold enough to the touch.

Once they’re chilled to your liking, fill each glass halfway with the sparkling wine, champagne, or club soda. Have the glass at a slight tilt as you pour, like you would when pouring beer. This helps maintain the carbonization.

It’s always better (and prettier!) to use champagne flutes for mimosas. The design of the glass is made specifically to maintain the carbonization from the champagne or sparkling wine. If you don’t have any though, your next best option is a wine glass.

3. Now add the juice to your glasses, again holding your glass at a tilt. Pour your juice slowly and let sit. Do not stir! The drink mixes on its own as you pour.

4. Add a fruit garnish if desired, and enjoy!
