My name is Rachel.

All too frequently, I encounter someone who would love to cook, but doesn't feel they have the skill, the time, the patience, etc. Sound familiar?  This project began when I discovered my love of inspiring others to cook. I love to cook, though I didn't always, and my journey towards enjoying the art of cooking began when I found my own creative take on preparing food.

As a novice cook, I took a recipe's instructions as truth, hardly ever straying from the directions or taking a chance at trying anything different. Over time and countless errors in the kitchen ending in "shame pizzas" (pizza you order delivered after a meal goes horribly, irrevocably wrong) I've learned the kitchen is a place to be creative, to explore the world, to become an artist if you will. It is my hope you will find this same creativity and inspiration to explore your own style of cooking.

You’ll find a wide range of recipes here. These are all ones I've adapted or written myself, and that I hope spark your inner artisan chef. I love to share new ingredients I've discovered, though I steer away from anything that's obscure or overly expensive. My diet encompasses several cuisines, though increasingly I strive towards a more plant-based diet. Likewise, I do use dairy products, sugar, and gluten in my food, but I'm always experimenting with plant-based, sugar-free, and gluten-free options. (I'm always learning!)

Mostly, I hope you learn to have fun with the material I share. Cooking is so much more meaningful when you do it with gusto and with your own flair. So welcome, and bon appetit!
